Aitong School

Founded from 1912 and aided by the Singapore Government, Aitong School set out on its mission to “nurture independent thinkers who are effectively bilingual and good-natured”. At Aitong School, it is vital that students take part in character and personality development through the use of internet-based platform.

Catering to this need, CommonTown worked with the school to develop a set of web-based applications including ePortfolio, the Student Blog and e-learning material repository.

Teachers make use of the e-Portfolio to assist and monitor students in their character development, by assigning activities related to a specific character trait which students are required to complete. This tool was part of the school’s character development program.

The teachers are allowed to upload eLearning materials onto a private directory on the school website, which students can log in to view and download with a given group code.
Lastly, the Student Blog allows students to engage in a social community by posting their stories and share thoughts with friends. This application is also aimed at achieving the school mission of nurturing student’s characters.
